Delicious, savory dishes transport diners to exotic and far-off locales

Be spirited away to Italy, the shores of Hawaii or the Greek isles at Grand Hyatt Tokyo, where summer dining alfresco is in full swing until Sept. 30.

The Oak Door restaurant has transformed into a Hawaiian-themed beer garden (plans start from ¥6,800) with drinks such as Kona beer, sparkling wines and colorful cocktails in tiki glasses. Poke is on the menu, but other Hawaiian-inspired delights include huli-huli chicken wings, garlic shrimp, Hawaiian pork ribs and pipikaula (beef jerky).

Summer-friendly Greek mezze appetizers, including taramosalata and other dips, set the stage at The French Kitchen’s terrace. Accompaniments include falafel, pita bread, marinated olives, salads and feta cheese. Mains include grilled seafood, lip-smacking souvlaki skewers and briam, baked zucchini and potatoes in a piquant tomato sauce. Ouzo is the tipple of choice but Champagne and Greek wines are alternative options, with plans from ¥5,200.

Should a light bite appeal, consider heading to Fiorentina. The cafe, with its outdoor terrace, is a fine backdrop for ordering a Limoncello alongside an aperitivo menu inspired by the best of Italian antipasti. Plans featuring arancini, prosciutto, bruschetta and other nibbles start at ¥2,600 with a la carte also available.
