Through Oct. 31, alfresco is the mode du jour at Grand Hyatt Tokyo, where The French Kitchen invites diners to join in a seasonal feast as part of its Autumn Terrace BBQ promotion. Additionally, The Oak Door terrace is transformed into a Halloween-themed “OAKtober Fest” beer garden, and guests are invited to partake in some spooky-themed fun. Halloween treats are also available at Fiorentina Pastry Boutique.
The French Kitchen’s terrace menu features tantalizing eats first arriving as part of an appetizer plate and then a barbecue platter. The plan is priced from ¥5,200 per person, but taking advantage of the free-flow Champagne plan (¥10,500 per person) sees endless Champagne Louis Roederer Brut Premier and premium Greek wines expertly matched with the meal.
Appetizers include a hearty pumpkin hummus accompanied by falafel, feta cheese and piquant marinated olives, among other dishes. Guests can savor grilled main dishes such as beef marinated in lemon and rosemary, chicken marinated in Greek yogurt and oregano and octopus in white wine and lemon sauce.
Conversely, the Halloween dinner served at The Oak Door (from ¥6,800 per person) serves as a reminder that guests are indeed in Tokyo. The welcoming cocktail served in a test tube provides an auspicious start to proceedings, with mini pumpkin cheeseburgers, demon-like pulled pork tacos, charred chicken wings and a “poisoned” apple pie all forming part of the deal. Reserve a spot on Oct. 23 to 25 or Oct. 30 and 31 and don a costume for the occasion to be eligible to receive 10 percent off the bill and receive a prize.
