A sumptuous lunch at the sleekly elegant Anchor Tokyo at The Gate Hotel Tokyo by Hulic is the perfect way to take a break from an exciting day exploring the city. For fans looking to celebrate their side’s victory at the Rugby World Cup, nothing beats a glass of Taittinger Champagne at the hotel’s lounge or terrace (fans toasting their nation’s brave defeat are also welcome).
The Chef’s Lunch is a feast that includes both a wagyu beef pastrami dish and grilled domestic pork, along with salad, bread, dessert and coffee (¥3,850). For a lighter repast, try the Lunch Set, which is a choice between domestic pork, chicken saute or fresh fish for the main dish, plus salad, bread and coffee (¥1,980). Lunch is served at Anchor Tokyo every day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Taittinger Champagne can also be savored at the hotel’s fourth-floor lounge and terrace. These are open and airy spaces with views of the hustle and bustle of downtown Tokyo. On clear days, spots on the terrace put guests close enough to the city to feel its hum, but far enough away that its hectic frenzy drops away. Straight from the Taittinger vineyards in northern France, bubbly is available by the glass (¥1,750), bottle (¥10,000-¥30,350) or in a two-hour free flow (¥6,900) every day from 11:30 a.m. to midnight. This special Champagne can also be enjoyed with meals at Anchor Tokyo until 11 p.m.
Conveniently located in the vibrant Yurakucho district, The Gate Hotel Tokyo by Hulic is one minute from Ginza and Hibiya stations and three minutes from Yurakucho Station. Some of the main sights of downtown Tokyo are not far off, including the luxurious department stores of Ginza and the gardens of the Imperial Palace.
