Two Jakarta hotels bombed, killing 9
Two men believed to have belonged to the Jemaah Islamiyah terrorist network checked into room 1808 at the upscale J.W. Marriott Hotel in Jakarta, smuggling explosives past metal detectors and security guards. Behind the closed door, investigators say the suicide attackers then assembled the bombs set off July 17 at the Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton next door, killing nine, including themselves, and wounding 50.
