Fujimori gets 25 years for death squads
Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison April 7 for death squad killing and kidnappings during his 1990s struggle against Shining Path insurgents.
The three-judge panel of the Supreme Court said the 70-year-old former leader was guilty of "crimes against humanity" including two operations by the military hit squad that claimed 25 lives.
The 25-year sentence is only five years fewer than the maximum.
