North-South train crosses border
North Korea recognizes regular train services should begin across the heavily armed border with South Korea, a top Seoul official said May 18, following a historic test run on the restored tracks.
Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung said he could sense the North "certainly has the will" to start the train service while talking to his North Korean counterpart, Kwon Ho Ung, during the May 17 test run.
The May 17 run was the first time trains have crossed the border since rail links were cut in the 1950-53 Korean War.
