The U.N. Security Council strongly condemned a March 22 "abhorrent terrorist attack" on the Iraqi prime minister's office while U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was taking part in a joint news conference.
Hours after an explosion outside Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's office, the council expressed its "unwavering support for the efforts of the U.N. and its secretary-general to promote an inclusive and effective political process in Iraq."
"The members of the Security Council strongly condemned the abhorrent terrorist attack on the Iraqi prime minister's office where the secretary-general participated in a news conference," said the council's current president, South African Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo.
