Government, militia to negotiate
Somalia's nearly powerless transitional government has agreed to attend peace talks with the Islamic militia that has seized control of most of the country's south, a government spokesman said July 18.
The government had announced it would boycott the talks, scheduled for July 22 in Sudan, saying the militants massacred civilians and were growing increasingly radical.
