5 die in stampede after Japan game

Five Iranian soccer fans were trampled to death after the 2006 World Cup qualifier against Japan in Tehran on March 25, state IRNA news agency reported.
They died as the 100,000-strong crowd was leaving Tehran's Azadi Stadium after watching their team defeat Japan 2-1 in the Group B Asian qualifying round. More than 40 others were reported injured, some critically.
