Doctors cleared in death of twins
A Singapore court March 6 cleared doctors who last year tried to separate adult conjoined twins from Iran of any criminal liability, saying the operation that ended fatally was an accident.
The ruling came at the end of an inquest into the deaths of 29-year-old Ladan and Laleh Bijani, who died of massive blood loss during the 50-hour surgery to separate them last July.
The surgery, the first attempt to separate adult twins joined at the head, was conducted over three days and involved a team of 28 doctors and about 100 medical assistants.
