Builders charged in deadly collapse
A Turkish court Feb. 6 charged two contractors with negligence in the collapse of an apartment building that killed at least 84 people and left dozens missing.
Hopes dimmed of finding more survivors from the Feb. 2 disaster in the central city of Konya, though more victims were believed trapped in the rubble. The collapse has been blamed on shoddy construction.
Two contractors, Vedat Kaya and Ismail Canlier, were detained by police Feb. 4 after a court charged them with negligence for ignoring building codes.
