Hatoyama, Aso wealthiest in Cabinet
Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Kunio Hatoyama and Prime Minister Taro Aso ranked No. 1 and 2 out of the 18-member Cabinet launched in late September, in terms of holdings of family assets, documents they submitted showed Oct. 24.
Last year, Hatoyama, who was justice minister in the Cabinet of Aso's predecessor, Yasuo Fukuda, was also the richest among the 18 ministers in Fukuda's Cabinet.
According to the documents, Hatoyama's family assets stood at ¥764.60 million as of Sept. 24, when Aso's Cabinet was formed and launched.
Aso followed with family assets of ¥455.47 million, including ¥414.97 million worth of land and structures.
