Expoland executives found guilty
Two former executives of the Expoland amusement park in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, were indicted April 28 for a fatal roller coaster accident that killed a young woman in May 2007.
Former Director Masanori Ito, 60, and former facilities and business department chief Atsushi Tatebe, 65, were indicted without arrest by Osaka prosecutors.
They also charged former engineering chief Hiroshi Matsuda, 58, and the company for conspiring to give a false safety report to authorities in March 2007.
On May 5, 2007, company worker Yoshino Kogawara of Shiga Prefecture died on the Fujin-Raijin II roller coaster when one of its axles cracked and caused it to derail, killing her and injuring 19 other passengers.
