Amagasaki victims' kin want justice
Nearly three years since the derailment of a West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) train in Hyogo Prefecture, almost 60 percent of the victims' families want its top managers to face criminal charges to ensure the factors that led to the tragedy are not forgotten, a Kyodo News survey shows.
The survey found that 80 percent of the families have not yet reached settlements with JR West and that more than 70 percent haven't even begun negotiating.
The train derailed on a curve and rammed a condominium complex in Amagasaki on April 25, 2005, killing 106 passengers and injuring 562 other people.
