Police sent TV personality Kenji Haga, former world champion boxer Jiro Watanabe and two gangsters to prosecutors July 2 on suspicion of coercing a man into giving up the claim to be paid back about ¥400 million in loans.
Haga, Watanabe and the two suspects were arrested June 30 for allegedly pressuring Haga's acquaintance in June last year into abandoning the sum that Haga had borrowed from him in return for ¥10 million from Haga.
While working as a TV personality since 1981, Haga started a jewelry sales business in 2001. Watanabe is a former junior bantamweight champion boxer, currently known as superflyweight.
