Toddler left in baby hatch A boy believed to be 3 to 4 years old has been found in the only anonymous drop box for unwanted infants on its first day in use. The baby drop-off, called "Crane's Cradle," was opened by the Catholic-run Jikei Hospital in the southern city of Kumamoto on May 10 to discourage abortions and the abandonment of infants in unsafe public places. The hospital has notified local authorities about the boy, who appears to be in good health. The boy said that his father took him to the hospital, it said.
