JAL announces massive losses
Japan Airlines Corp. lowered its earnings forecast to a net loss of ¥16.2 billion for the fiscal year through March, far worse than an earlier projection of a ¥3 billion profit.
That would be the second consecutive year of red ink for JAL.
The expected loss stems from a decision not to count ¥44.7 billion in deferred tax assets as part of the air carrier's profit, JAL said.
It raised its sales forecast slightly to ¥2.3 trillion for the fiscal year from an earlier estimate of ¥2.27 trillion. Last fiscal year, sales totaled ¥2.2 trillion.
