A truck rear-ended a tour bus May 8 on an expressway interchange in Hiroshima Prefecture, killing one passenger and injuring 20 others on the bus, which overturned, police said.

Tadashi Horie, 57, president of Horiekakou, a chemical products manufacturer, died of his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Kazutaka Suzuki, the truck's 61-year-old driver, was arrested at the site for alleged professional negligence resulting in injuries.

The accident occurred on the Sanyo Expressway near Hiroshima.

The bus overturned after the truck hit it from behind, prefectural police spokesman Kyoji Yokoyama said.

Police said there were 17 male and four female passengers on the bus, who were employees of Horiekakou in Gotsu, Shimane Prefecture. They were heading to the Dogo hot spring resort in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, on a recreation tour.
