MSDF data on defense leaked
Investigators have begun questioning senior officers of the Maritime Self-Defense Force over a suspected data leak involving the Aegis missile defense system, investigative sources said April 17.
The questioning began after police confiscated computer hard drives from a petty officer 2nd class that contained secret Aegis data.
The petty officer said he got the data from a petty officer 3rd class. Neither has authorized access to the information, the sources said.
Those who have been interviewed on a voluntary basis include a lieutenant commander who compiled materials for the training program around 1998, they said.
