Hostage abducted in Paraguay freed
One of two abducted Japanese citizens was free April 10 more than a week after being seized on a highway in eastern Paraguay.
Authorities identified the freed Japanese as Sawako Shuma Takayama and said they were trying to determine how she returned to Asuncion undetected by police checkpoints.
The release marked the biggest development since Takayama was reported seized on April 1 with business executive Hirokazu Ota.
