Shibata wins bronze in freestyle
Ai Shibata rewrote her national record in winning the women's 400 meters freestyle bronze medal at the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne on March 25.
Shibata, the 800 meters freestyle Olympic champion, shaved 1.55 seconds off her best to take third place with a time of 4:05.19.
Laure Manaudou of France won the gold in a meet record 4:02.61 while Poland's Otylia Jedrzejczak took the silver in 4:04.23.
