Hibakusha wins allowance suit
The Supreme Court on Feb. 6 upheld a high court decision and ordered the Hiroshima Prefectural Government to pay three Japanese A-bomb survivors in Brazil all the hibakusha allowances owing to them, ruling out any statute of limitations.
The top court dismissed the prefecture's appeal against the Hiroshima High Court decision in February 2005 and agreed the three plaintiffs should get their full demand of ¥2.9 million.
