Tepco covers up 199 plant defects Tokyo Electric Power Co., the nation's largest utility, said Jan. 31 it covered up a defect in an emergency pump for cooling down a reactor core in an accident in order to pass a government inspection in 1992. This was one of a total of 199 cases of falsifications and irregularities at its power plants in a report the company presented to the government's nuclear safety agency following allegations of data falsification against it and power companies.
