The move came after Fujiya's board of directors approved a plan to accept support from bread and cake maker Yamazaki Baking to help regain consumer confidence in a bid to restart its business.

Effectively shut down since revelations last month that it had used expired ingredients in its products, Fujiya has been seeking Yamazaki's help particularly in the area of quality control by sharing knowledge in hygiene supervision.
