FTC to punish infra-ministry
The Fair Trade Commission plans to punish the infrastructure ministry in February over a floodgate bid-rigging scandal by applying a related prevention law for the first time to a government ministry or agency, sources close to the matter said Jan. 22.
The sources said the FTC also notified about 20 manufacturers involved, including Tokyo-based Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., of its plan to order them to pay fines totaling more than ¥1 billion and to end all practices related to the suspected bid-rigging cases.
