Payment to hibakusha revoked
The Fukuoka High Court on Jan. 22 overturned a lower court ruling that ordered the city of Nagasaki to pay benefits to relatives of a deceased South Korean who had survived the atomic-bombing.
The family of Choi Gye Chol has been pursuing the suit after Choi, the original plaintiff, died in 2004 at age 78. Choi had demanded the central and local governments pay a combined ¥9.6 million mainly in health-care benefits.
