How much and when Yoshiaki Murakami, head of MAC Asset Management, knew about Livedoor Co.'s intentions to buy up Nippon Broadcasting Systems Inc., is crucial to the trial.
Murakami, 47, a former government bureaucrat turned fund founder, pleaded not guilty to all charges in the opening session Nov. 30, denying that he bought Nippon Broadcasting shares with a Livedoor takeover in mind.
Answering a prosecutor's questions, former Livedoor Chief Financial Officer Ryoji Miyauchi outlined the planning between Murakami and former Livedoor Chief Executive Takafumi Horie about how Livedoor would buy up Nippon Broadcasting.
