Corporate bankruptcies fell 0.6 percent to 667 cases in September, the lowest level seen since May 2005, said private credit research agency Teikoku Databank Ltd.

September's decline in bankruptcy cases was the first decrease in three months, following a 2.7 percent on-year gain in August and a 10.5 percent jump in July, it said. It also marked a 13.8 percent fall from the previous month.

In the July-September period, corporate bankruptcies fell 3.7 percent on quarter to 2,187 cases, marking the second consecutive period of on-quarter declines.
