Teacher of suicide victim popular
The junior high school teacher who is said to have provoked bullying against one of his students who committed suicide in Chikuzen, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Oct. 11 was experienced and popular but his harsh remarks sometimes went too far, according to his students.
The homeroom teacher has worked at the junior high school for four years, teaching Japanese and overseeing a school soccer team.
Two third-year female students both agreed he was scary when he scolded students, but was otherwise funny and popular.
The teacher called the 13-year-old student who committed suicide a "hypocrite" and "liar" in front of his classmates. He also compared students to different varieties of strawberries to rank them, drawing protests from parents.
