Boxer Munetsugu Kayo failed in his first shot at a world title Oct. 9 as Thailand's Wandee Singwangcha defeated the ninth-ranked challenger by a unanimous decision in a WBC light flyweight interim title fight.
Wandee, who was stripped of his status as interim champion after failing to make the weight Oct. 8, seized control as the bout wore on by landing a series of body blows and knocked down Kayo with a left hook in the seventh round.
The World Boxing Council will leave the title vacant because of the 26-year-old Thai's failure in the weigh-in.
