Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe

A letter that was postmarked in Hong Kong and contained a box cutter blade was sent to Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe's office in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, with a message threatening his life if he visits Yasukuni Shrine, his staff said July 10.
It was the second such letter to Abe recently, saying that heaven will punish him if he vistis the shrine.
Abe, a Lower House member from a constituency in Yamaguchi Prefecture, annually visits the shrine on Aug. 15, the anniversary of the end of World War II.
Abe's office filed a report with Shimonoseki Police, and the case is under investigation.
