The export was one of 11 helicopters Yamaha has allegedly shipped to several Chinese companies since July 2001, the sources said.
Yamaha previously said it has exported only nine such choppers to China since 2001. The company claimed that they were all sold to a Beijing-based aerial service company.
The helicopter in question, the RMAX, has been supplied to Poly Technologies Inc., a Beijing-based company operating under the supervision of the Chinese Army, said the sources.
The police suspect Yamaha Motor shipped the RMAX knowing that it would eventually be converted for military use.
Unlicensed exports of sensitive items violate the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Law.
