Darth Vader
On May 15 at the Cannes film
festival, the last episode of
the sci-fi saga, Star Wars:
Episode III -- Revenge of the
Sith, screened with the transformation of young Jedi
Knight Anakin Skywalker into evil warlord Darth Vader.
Cannes audiences made blunt
comparisons between the film
to U.S. President George W.
Bush's war on terrorism and
the invasion of Iraq.
At one point in the film, Anakin -- soon to be villain Darth
Vader -- tells his former mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi: "If
you're not with me, then
you're my enemy."
The line echoes Bush's international ultimatum after the
Sept. 11 attacks, "Either you
are with us, or you are with
the terrorists."
