A third-generation Japanese-Peruvian man, Pizarro Yagi Juan Carlos, 30, was arrested in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture on Nov. 30 for allegedly murdering a 7-year-old girl and abandoning her body in Aki Ward, Hiroshima City on Nov. 22.
The body of Airi Kinoshita, a first-grade student at a municipal elementary school, was found inside a cardboard box on an empty lot. Investigators traced the sales routes of the box, insulating tape and other items left at the scene.
The suspect reportedly arrived in Japan alone in April last year and recently moved to an apartment near the murder scene. He quit a Japanese-managed temporary help service company about three months ago because of his limited Japanese ability.
