Den Fujita, dubbed Japan's "father of the hamburger" for introducing McDonald's to the country more than three decades ago, left ¥49.1 billion to his family, the tax office in Tokyo's Setagaya Ward said March 25.
The founder and former president of McDonald's Co. (Japan), died last April of heart failure, aged 78.
Most of the inheritance is in the form of shares in McDonald's Holdings Co. (Japan), the holding company of McDonald's Japan, along with real estate and bank deposits, according to the tax office.
The ¥12.2 billion tax on the inheritance has been paid, Jiji Press news agency said.
