Budget gets quick pass The Diet enacted the fiscal 2005 budget March 23, marking the fourth-fastest budget passage in postwar history and a victory for the governing coalition of the Liberal-Democratic Party and New Komeito. The austere budget of ¥82.18 trillion passed swiftly through the Diet with little or no resistance from the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan.
