A knife-wielding 17-year-old youth intruded into Neyagawa Chuo Elementary School in Neyagawa, Osaka Prefecture, on Feb. 14, stabbed a male teacher to death and wounded two women staff members. No students were injured in the attack.
The teen went to that school and lives in the city, police said, adding that he was refusing to answer questions about his motive for the attack.
The fatality was identified as Mitsuaki Kamozaki, 52.
Using an intercom at the front gate, the teen asked for a teacher by name, investigators said.
After being told that the teacher was out, the teen entered the school and attacked Kamozaki, who came out to talk to him, on the playground. He then proceeded to the staff room on the second floor of the school building, where he stabbed the two women, they said.
