Police Nov. 4 turned over to prosecutors their case against popular television celebrity Shinsuke Shimada, who allegedly struck and injured a woman employee of his agency, Yoshimoto Kogyo Co.
Shimada, whose real name is Kimihiko Hasegawa, admitted hitting the 40-year-old woman, investigators said.
Shimada got into an argument with the woman at a TV broadcasting station in Osaka's Kita Ward on Oct. 25, dragged her into a dressing room, grabbed her hair and slapped her head, police said.
Shimada was quoted as telling police he felt the woman "had a bad attitude" and wanted to "teach her to behave as a person belonging to the same agency."
Shimada said at a news conference that he was "100 percent" to blame for the incident. He said that although the woman talked to others in a rude way that needed to be "corrected," his actions could not be condoned.
