Electric power body buried cost data
The Federation of Electric Power Companies admitted July 7 that it failed to disclose data it compiled in February 1994 on the cost of burying spent nuclear fuel.
The federation estimate shows that the cost of burying spent nuclear fuel is about 30 percent lower than recycling it.
On July 5, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry formally admitted that it concealed its estimate that the cost of burying spent nuclear fuel is far lower than recycling it.
On July 6, the government's Atomic Energy Commission said it had covered up cost estimates that contradicted its long-term nuclear energy plan based on the recycling of spent nuclear fuel.
