Teen girl held for pushing 5-year-old

The police took a 13-year-old girl into custody June 23 on suspicion of pushing a 5-year-old boy from the fourth floor of a public condominium in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward on June 22.

The boy, Sun Jizu, a Chinese, survived the fall and told the police he had been pushed by a girl. The police said they are treating the case as attempted murder.

The second-year junior high-school student reportedly told the police she pushed the boy out of fear that he might tell her mother she had taken him to a game arcade.

A neighbor found the boy crying on the ground shortly before 5 p.m. after she was told by a girl that there was an injured boy nearby, the police said.

The girl disappeared when the woman was talking with the boy, who told her that he had been pushed by a girl, according to the police.
