An 11-year-old girl, who is believed to have murdered her classmate at an elementary school in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture, has told police she had Internet messaging trouble with the victim and summoned her with the intention of killing her, investigative sources said June 2.

Satomi Mitarai, 12, died of massive blood loss in a study room at Okubo Elementary School on June 1 after her neck was slashed with a paper cutter, and her close friend was taken into custody by police.

The girls often sent text messages to each other by personal computers, according to the Sasebo Municipal Board of Education.
