Japan needs cluster bombs: Kyuma
The nation needs to retain its cluster bombs for defensive purposes, Defense Minister Fumio Kyuma said May 25, suggesting that Japan would not support a recently discussed international ban on the weapons.
"Cluster bombs are a problem because the attacking side is using them," he said. "For those who need to defend themselves, there is no better alternative weapon right now. It is 100 percent certain that Japan will not use them to attack other countries."
