Government adopts new bills
The Cabinet approved on Feb. 13 a bill requiring precious metal dealers, real estate brokers and other similar businesses to report to government authorities transactions they suspect could be money-laundering, widening the scope of existing regulations.
The government on the same day adopted another bill to reform statistics and national surveys in a move to drastically amend the statistics law for the first time in 60 years.
Under the bill, the government will set up a panel of 13 experts at the Cabinet Office to review the necessity of national surveys and statistics and draw up a basic plan that will set revision study themes every five years.
