Jobless rate falls to 4.7% in March The unemployment rate improved to 4.7 percent in March, the best showing in three years, the government said April 30, amid growing signs that the nation is undergoing a moderate recovery. The jobless rate, which fell 0.3 percentage points in March, was the lowest since the rate stood at 4.7 percent in March 2001. It was 5 percent in January and February after slipping to 4.9 percent in December. The Finance Ministry said that 3.33 million people were jobless in March, down 510,000 from the same month the previous year.
