MBA tour offers information on world's top business programs

As the value of an MBA qualification continues to rise among Asian employers, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, compilers of the QS World University Rankings, are giving Japanese students the opportunity to meet with top business schools from around the world.

The event, part of the QS World MBA Tour, will take place in Osaka on Sept. 1, and in Tokyo on Sept. 3. The world MBA tour kicks off in Singapore on Aug. 20, before visiting Taipei, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Osaka and wrapping up in Tokyo on Sept. 3.

MBA SPECIAL

Top business schools from around the world will hold presentations and panel discussions during the QS World MBA Tour in Osaka on Sept. 1 and in Tokyo on Sept. 3. QS

Recent research conducted by QS indicates that now is an optimal moment for aspiring business leaders in Asia to take an MBA. This is evidenced by the increased rate of MBA hiring in the Asia-Pacific region. It is also evidenced by the increased salary and bonus average that MBA hires in the Asia-Pacific region earn. The previous year saw an 18 percent rise in MBA hiring in the Asia-Pacific region for 2014-15 — above the global average of 14 percent; Japan ranked as the world's 13th-largest market for MBA graduate hires; a predicted job market growth of 13 percent for 2015-16; and total compensation for MBA graduates rising 11 percent in 2014-15.

This means an MBA graduate in the Asia-Pacific region can expect to earn, on average, $95,200 when salary and bonuses are added together.

These figures demonstrate that the region possesses a stronger MBA market than almost all other regions surveyed by QS. For example, only the Asia-Pacific region saw a rise in bonus figures, which now stand at an average of $26,000 per year.

QS events aim to put highly motivated MBA candidates in touch with highly ranked business schools from across the world. In doing so, they aim to give aspiring MBA candidates in Japan the strongest chance possible of achieving their academic and career ambitions.

The tour therefore includes direct, face-to-face meetings with admissions directors from some of the world's top business schools; presentations and panel discussions featuring key decision-makers at participating business schools; workshops designed to ensure attendees receive the highest-possible GMAT score; the opportunity to be eligible for scholarships worth $1.7 million; advice on MBA admissions strategy; and the opportunity to discuss the MBA application process and experience with alumni from Harvard Business School, New York University's Stern School and London Business School.

MBA SPECIAL

Prospective students will have a chance to meet with representatives of top business schools from around the world and gather information to help them decide which course suits them best. QS

Presentations by many business schools from around the world and panel discussions under the themes "Admissions Hints and Tips" and "How to Choose a Business School" will be given throughout the day.

The tour is recommended for those who have just begun walking the MBA path and want to find out which MBA course suits their target, or those who want to get some inspiration from alumni who are already successful in their careers after taking an MBA course. The tour is also suitable for those who have already taken the GMAT exam and are not happy with their score and want advice on how to get higher scores, or those who have already done well on the GMAT, but want career advice after finishing the MBA course. Additionally, those who have already worked for two to three years and want to find out which MBA course suits them best, including whether to do their MBA in Japan or abroad, or whether to take a part-time or full-time course and those who want to increase their opportunities for a career change will find the tour useful.

Top business schools participating include Cornell University; Hult International Business School; Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University; ESADE Business School; HEC Paris; IE Business School; Alliance Manchester Business School; Global MBA at the University of Michigan, Ross; Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California; Washington University; Olin Business School; the University of Hong Kong and more.
