Remodeled steakhouse serves perfectly prepared choice cuts
Grand Hyatt Tokyo's re-envisioned signature restaurant and steakhouse, The Oak Door, is ready to reposition itself as a leader among the numerous steakhouses that have opened in Roppongi in recent years. The Oak Door offers guests an unforgettable dining experience with top quality food, drinks and warm hospitality.
Opening on the cusp of Grand Hyatt Tokyo's 15-year anniversary, The Oak Door's remodeling is the work of internationally renowned designer Tony Chi. The space is even more inviting than before and portrays how the beloved restaurant has matured over the last 15 years. It seats 238 people, including 54 terrace seats and a private dining room for 12. Among the new features are four original white oak chandeliers in the main dining room, shelving units on the open kitchen's counter to enhance the bread station and a special bread oven that let guests enjoy the freshly baked bread straight from the oven while watching chefs in action.
The Oak Door Bar evokes an atmosphere of comfortable privacy in comparison to its previous design. Guests can choose from 300 varieties of New World wines — all nestled in the restaurant's spacious wine cellar — while relaxing in new, leather-backed booths.
The restaurant also welcomes Patrick Shimada, a new chef de cuisine who has an extensive background in steakhouses and grilled dishes. He is highly reputed for his creations using the finest produce, perfectly cooked at the right temperature to achieve the best textures and flavors. The Oak Door's new menu items include Japanese, U.S. and Canadian beef from different farms that will be introduced seasonally. With a new dual grill and a steak broiler oven, the guests are guaranteed to delight in Shimada's magnificent work.
