Kanazawa University, one of Japan’s National Universities, which trace its history back to 1862. Nowdays it is leading center for higher education in Hokuriku Region located in Kanazawa city. Kanazawa city is only two-and-a-half hours away from Tokyo by bullet train. Kanazawa University is comprised of 4 Colleges, 20 Schools, 7 Graduate Schools, University Hospital and other specialized research facilities, including the Cancer Research Institute which was founded as the only such institute under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and authorized as the Joint Research Center on Metastasis and Drug Resistance. In 2017, the university established Nano Life Science Institute and began to earnestly take action for the formation of the international research center. Also, the University established Nanomaterials Research Institute in 2018, Advanced Manufacturing Technology Institute in 2019 and Biomas Green Innovation Center in 2023 and has been aiming for social implementation of innovative university research results. Kanazawa University is the research university dedicated to education, while opening up its doors to both local and global society. It has been selected as a Top Global University for the governmental fund to support the universities which lead the globalization of Japanese society. Also, the university will strive to be a world-class institution for academic research in accordance with to the Japanese government’s budget allocation to national universities. The University welcomes international students and has concluded partnership with over 320 institutions across the world. It has its own scholarship system for international students, a shared house-style student dormitory where Japanese and international students live together, and the Kanazawa University International House which offers single, private rooms for new international students coming to Japan. Further , Kanazawa University has set up One-Stop Consultation Counter for International Students which is available to answer any inquiries of them, both before and after enrollment.

Facilities and support programs

Scholarships for International Students

Kanazawa University have established a unique scholarship program called "Study at KU Scholarship," funded by the Kanazawa University Fund, for international students who meet the criteria set forth in our university's regulations.

Japanese Language and culture learning programs

Kanazawa University offers international students japanese language learning programs. Beside japanese language programs, Kanazawa University offers the Programs for the Studies on Japanese Culture and Society in order to give international students the opportunity to learn, through hands-on experience and lectures, about the culture and society of Japan.

Foreign exchange student dormitory

There are two dormitories for students called "Sakigake" and "Hokumei" that are share houses where Japanese students and international students live toghether, and the Kanazawa University International House (Kokuryu Kaikan) which offers single rooms for new international students.

One-Stop Consultation Counter for International Students

Kanazawa University conduct consultations to foreign students who faced problems in their studies, classes, private life, or any other areas. So foreighn students could feel free to consult their academic advisor, tutor, international student advisor, counselor, student affairs section or related divisions. The Health Service Center provides counseling services, and Certified Public Psychologists are available in the counseling room. International students career support

Kanazawa University has launched the "LINK KAGAYAKI Project" the purpose of which is to connect international studens with Hokuriku regions companies. This program helps international students to start the career in Japan.
