Foreign wrestlers dominate c'ships

SAKAI, Osaka Pref. (Kyodo) Russian Alan Gabaraev disposed of Pavel Poriz of the Czech Republic to win the open weight category at the amateur world sumo championships on Sunday.

Gabaraev deployed a beltless arm throw to send Poriz crashing to the dohyo surface while Byambajav Ulambayar of Mongolia swatted down Russia's Alan Karaev to win the heavyweight division at Ohama sumo arena in Sakai.

Takaharu Nagasawa and Katsuo Yoshida defeated Niyaz Gunyashev of Kazakhstan and Mongolian Gantugs Rentsendorj, respectively.
