Agnes Digital runs streak to five

Agnes Digital extended his winning streak to five Sunday as the American-bred son of Crafty Prospector bested a star-studded field of 16 for a length win in the February Stakes at Tokyo Racecourse.

The Funabashi-based Toshin Blizzard suffered his first loss as he followed Agnes Digital over the line in second.

Last year's winner, Nobo True, finished in third place half a length later.

Following an ultra-smooth start, Hirofumi Shii brought Digital back to sixth position, allowing him to keep an eye on top contenders Nobo True and To the Victory ahead.

Moving wide in the stretch, Agnes Digital closed steadily on the front, caught To the Victory eight strides out and crossed the line gaining.

As To the Victory faded, a hard-fought battle saw Nobo True, with French rider Olivier Peslier up, lose his hold on second to Toshin Blizzard in the final strides.

The February Stakes, the first Grade 1 race of the year at national-level racing, marked Agnes Digital's fourth straight G1 victory since October, including the fall Emperor's Cup at Tokyo and the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin.

Agnes Digital, who won last year's Top 4-Year-Old and Up Award, is next aiming for the Dubai World Cup, the world's richest race.
