Griner breaks women's dunk record

AP

HONOLULU — Brittney Griner broke the NCAA women's record with her eighth career dunk during Baylor's game against UT Martin on Saturday night.

Griner broke away from a double-team less than seven minutes into the game, dribbled once and threw down the dunk to put the top-ranked Lady Bears up 18-13.

The one-handed dunk moved Griner past Tennessee's Candace Parker for the most slam dunks in women's NCAA history. Griner dunked four times as a freshman, once as a sophomore and twice in last season's NCAA tournament.
